NPA Day One

I met the New NPA President, Christine Banning. She will do good things for this organization. Jed Hatfield, incoming Chairman for the organization told me that they spent the last year discussing the future of the organization and how they would proceed. Nothing was off the table, from combining with other organizations to finding a professional leader from within the industry.

I think they made the right choice. A person can learn a lot about parking quickly, but having the skills to promote and drive a trade association takes years of experience. Christine Banning brings those years to the NPA.

In a phone conversation with Christine she asked me to recommend what she should do first. I told her that she would be well served to spend some time working with some of her members, yes in the booth, at the manager’s office, learning about our industry. She took me up on it and I heard from third parties that she is planning to do just that as soon as the show is over.

Smart woman, that Christine Banning.
