NYC Plans to close budget gap by hiring….

You guessed it – more parking enforcement officers. They say that next year they will increase their income by nearly $100,000,000 by hiring over 200 more folks to write parking tickets. At least New York is passed hiding the idea that this is a tax, not a way to enforce parking laws. You can read about it here…

You know what I think about this so I won’t go into my normal screed here. Suffice it to say that we in the parking business are being asked more and more for revenue to cover the outlandish costs of local government. I suggest that this can only go on so long.

If parkers are going to pay for city government, they are going to want something in return, like places to park, better local services on street, and who knows what else. The city can only squeeze the taxpayers so much, then they will begin to squeeze back.
