Parking Association of Australia

The group has done a really good job bringing in folks from around the world. They have speakers from Canada, the US, China, Sweden, New Zealand, and of course Australia. Don Shoup is headlining the event. It looks to be a great program and the setting, on the shores of Sydney harbor in one of the most photogenic cities on earth, is perfect.

Aussies have developed some unique solutions to unique problems (necessity being the mother of invention and all that.) Much of the on street parking here is based on time (one hour free, then you must move, etc) and enforced by officers on foot chalking and then rechecking.

The concept of monitoring the space with a sensor and then uploading the data to the officer (sort of automatic chalking) has been in use here for a number of years and is being developed and expanded by a number of companies.
