According to this article in epayment news, Pay and Display sales are booming in the US. The concept is catching on and as meters need replacement, they are being replaced with some type of P and D.
I am happy to add to the list of cities noted in the article as exploring P and D. Those others include Baltimore, Portland, Denver, Houston, New York, Chicago, and more.
The article notes that the new meters have received "mixed" response in some quarters. I would suggest that the "mixed" response is directly related to the way the new system is marketed. I now that they are a grand success in Portland but the city spent quite a lot of time and money promoting the new devices prior to their installation.
