Seattle City Government Thinks Long and Hard about Taking the Easy Way Out

Looks like a job for PT the Auditor. It’s a shame this Seattle parking garage has become a money pit, but I think it would be a bigger shame for the city to sell it for a loss. The city could invest a little in correcting the problems – which are mainly a bunch of thieving embezzlers on the payroll – and turn the garage into a profitable enterprise. Unfortunately, accounting irregularities showed up in last year’s audit and are just being addressed now. If Seattle leadership could get its act together it might benefit from the tax revenue this garage generates. But it’s just easier to give up, sell the garage, and let a private operator fix the issues and enjoy the rewards.
