If you text the word “Haiti” to 90999 your phone bill will be charged $10 and all of that will go to the American Red Cross. The phone company gets nothing. Nearly $8 million has already been raised for the Red Cross by this method.
The Red Cross was the first NGO on the ground and ran out of supplies almost immediately. They are aggressively resupplying their staff on the ground but need money badly.
