Shows the power of the meter, and a lack of planning

Scranton installed parking meters to raise money for the city. In this area they got no takers. Workers at a local plant simply moved their cars a couple of blocks away and took up space that was being used by local residents.

The meters did exactly what they were supposed to do – free up parking. Unfortunately that wasn’t exactly what the city wanted. Prior planning prevents…

  1. Now the city needs a residential parking program for the blocks to where all the workers moved their cars!

  2. Parking meters are never to raise money but to establish a parking policy and avoiding car cruising.
