Parking Revenue Recovery Services (PRRS), Inc., a provider of artificial-intelligence (AI)-driven compliance and vehicle activity monitoring, announced the appointment of Todd Tucker, JD, DBA, CAPP, CPP, as its new chief operating officer. Before joining PRRS, Tucker served as president at Parking Logix. He assumed the role from Chris Conley, who retired from PRRS.
The Chicago Department of Aviation opened a new 6-story parking garage serving the recently renovated and expanded Terminal 5 at O’Hare International Airport. The $191-million garage features a parking guidance system that provides real-time availability of parking spaces, as well as 48 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. The Terminal 5 garage project, which more than doubles the amount of available parking at the terminal, was led by joint venture AECOM Hunt Clayco BOWA as construction manager at-risk.

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and the Wayne County Airport Authority selected the Park Assist Solution, from TKH Security, to enhance the passenger experience and streamline DTW parking operations. The automated parking guidance system will be installed in the McNamara Parking Garage, the Big Blue deck, and surrounding surface lots, totaling 18,000 monitored spaces upon completion. Installation is expected to be completed in two phases between 2025 and 2026.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is evaluating the performance of ParkZen, a new smart parking mobile app that enables local travelers to view real-time parking availability in six commuter lots in Fairfax, Prince William, and Stafford counties at no cost. This parking technology will be initially available in the six designated lots for the early adopters during the evaluation period from November 2024 to January 2025. If the trial period is successful, VDOT will evaluate rolling out the technology for other commuter lots throughout Northern Virginia and the Fredericksburg area starting in Spring 2025.
The digital parking services provider EasyPark Group announced a strategic partnership with Hubject, which connects EV charging networks and providers to facilitate charging access. This collaboration will enable EV drivers using EasyPark to park and charge at more than 600,000 stations across Europe. EasyPark Group also announced a partnership with the parking management company Goldbeck Parking Services. Through the partnership, EasyPark customers will gradually get access to more than 118,500 parking spaces managed by Goldbeck Parking Services across Germany and Austria during 2025.
Automaker Kia has launched CarPay, the brand’s in-car payment service that enables customers to pay for items and services from inside the vehicle, starting with the EV3. The first application available will be with connected car services provider Parkopedia, which helps drivers in Europe locate available parking and pay for it conveniently through the vehicle’s navigation screen.

California-based building C.W. Driver Companies completed construction in San Ysidro, California, of a new six-story parking structure with an 11,540 square-foot ground floor retail space for developer and owner Baja-Mex Insurance Services. The code employs a carbon budget approach and emphasizes the use of Environmental Product Declarations for benchmarking, aiming to standardize methodologies for reducing carbon emissions associated with concrete construction.
