As usual, Don Shoup gave a "Shoupista" oriented talk and it was well received by the assembled masses in both Los Angeles and Chicago at the PIE Conference last week. His facts and ideas were clear and compelling. No doubt.
However, when the Q and A began, it was interesting to say the least. Frankly I have no idea what question started the "23 minute" answer nor do I have a clear understanding of what the answer was. But I do know, by the clock, Don did respond in spades, 23 minutes worth.
If Don’s remarks proved anything, they proved that he certainly has passion about his topic. No doubt. However he did succeed in losing his audience, in some cases completely, when some left the room.
I have great respect for Don and his Shoupista ideas. They have logic, and they work. I love his humor, logic, and passion. When we prepare our next seminar, I think an appropriate venue for him would be salon, where ideas could be interchanged and answers given their due. He has much to offer, and there is no way he can get it all communicated, even in 23 minutes.
