Local PBS TV Station KCET did a long segment on Old Pasadena and its renewal based mostly on revenue generated by parking. They interviewed UCLA Professor Don Shoup. See the video here.
Pasadena was the first city in the country to embrace the professors theories on how to change the way you charge for parking and use the money locally to invigorate the infrastructure of the city. Old Pasadena was the "skid row" of the area, and now, with the infusion of parking cash, it has become one of the most visited and trendy areas of Southern California.
This is positive news about parking. Thanks to Pasadena for their leadership and to KCET for this excellent piece.
