They got the bastard

From the San Diego Union Tribune

An El Cajon man convicted of fatally shooting an employee at a downtown parking
lot was sentenced yesterday to 50 years to life in prison.

A
jury found Willie Ulyesses Grant, 36, guilty DEC. 14 of first-degree murder in
the slaying of Bryan Dawson, 26, who worked at Ace Parking on Sixth Avenue near
Ash Street.

Dawson was wounded April 7 and died at a hospital the next morning.

Superior Court Judge Janet Kintner declared a mistrial with regard to a
co-defendant in the case, Jason Rochelle, after a different jury was unable to
reach a verdict. Rochelle, 21, who is charged with murder, is scheduled to go to
trial again March 19.

Prosecutors contend that both men conspired to rob the parking lot after
learning from another Ace employee when cash receipts would be dropped off.
During the trial, prosecutors contended that Grant was the shooter.

Hope he rots in jail.

  1. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT. WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE IS TAKEN FROM YOU THE WAY MY HUSBAND WAS TAKEN BY THAT,, THERE’S REALLY NOT A WORD THAT DESCIBES THAT THING,, IT HARD TO ACCEPT. IT’S HARD TO JUST GO ON KNOWING HOW I HAVE TO GOT THE REST OF MY LIFE WITHOUT MY HUSBAND AND MY KIDS THEIR FATHER WHILE THE REST OF THE WORLD SEEMS TO MOVE ON I STAY STILL. SOME HOW BY YOU NOT FORGETTING HOW WRONG AND HOW UN NESSASARY THE IT WAS FOR MY HUSBAND TO BE KILLED IN COLD BLOOD AND BY WRITTING ABOUT HIM AND PEOPLE SHOWING CONCERN FOR MY HUSBAND AND JUSTICE IN THIS CASE PEOPLE WHO DON’T EVEN KNOW HIM THAT ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPEND GAVE ME SUCH A GOOD FEELING LIKE HE TOUCHED HEARTS AND THAT TOUCHED MINE. SO WHEN OUR DAUGHTERS LOOK BACK THEY WILL SEE THAT THEIR FATHER WAS LOVED AND MISSED AND WHAT HAPPEND TO HIM MATTER TO PEOPLE. THAT MAKES ME FEEL A LITTLE BETTER.

  2. They Got The Other Bastard, Too!
Evidently, Jason Rochelle decided not to press his luck. The chances of getting a “bonehead” on the second jury (like the bonehead who hung the first jury 11-1 in favor of Guilty) was not very good, and he would have most likely been found guilty of murder, with a sentence of 25 years to life.
Man pleads guilty in employee’s death
DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO: An El Cajon man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of an employee at a downtown parking lot last year.
Jason Rochelle, 21, entered the plea Monday in San Diego Superior Court. He could be sent to prison for up to 11 years at a sentencing hearing scheduled for June 5.
Rochelle had been charged with murder in the slaying of Bryan Dawson, 26, who worked at Ace Parking on Sixth Avenue near Ash Street. Dawson was wounded April 7 and died at a hospital the next morning.
Prosecutors argued during the trial that Rochelle and a co-defendant, Willie Grant, 36, conspired to rob the parking lot after learning from another Ace employee when cash receipts would be dropped off. Prosecutors argued that Grant was the shooter.
In December, a jury found Grant guilty of first-degree murder and he was sentenced later to 50 years to life in prison. A separate jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of finding Rochelle guilty of murder.
