The pay and display meters in Manhattan’s theater district are being retrofitted to handle credit cards. Good for the Big Apple. More convenience for the parking public, easier to audit for the city.
They also have a prepay "muni Card" which they will continue to use. After all, they sell nearly 300,000 prepaid cards worth over 10 million bucks. These are great for businesses and delivery services.
Also, one will never know how much money is rolling around in glove compartments and clipped to sun visors. But I bet its substantial. And…just how must is never used. I’m pretty sure the FedEx driver runs his card down to zero. But what about Mr. Businessman who drives into the city once a week. He just might forget how much is on his card and never use it up.
Ah, the wonders and benefits of pre pay.
