The Auburn (NY) city dads have decided to cut back on the money provided for downtown improvement and maintenance while at the same time increasing the cost of parking. Read about it here.
The downtown merchants are saying, OK, but give us part of the parking money. The city is balking, Naturally.
The merchants are lobbying against the proposal, but noted that if they got part of the money, they might see how wise it was to raise the rates, particularly on street.
After all the publicity on how parking works, and how money should be allocated back to the area from whence it came, and how that money improves the area, thus attracting more business, and support for the parking issues, it is incredible to me that the governing body of a city like Auburn, could be so dense.
I just reread my last paragraph and slapped my forehead — DUH.
