What’s that, I can’t hear you

I know, I’m almost deaf. But the 747s taking off overhead don’t help. When a plane lands, they sort of coast in, with just enough power to keep up the speed and altitude they need. When they take off, they give it everything they’ve got.

Our offices are under the approach to LAX, about 500 yards from the beginning of the runway. We hear very little airplane noise. Except when it rains. They turn the pattern and take off to the east, right over my desk.
