(July 22, 2026) — WGI will host a webinar on July 29th examining the findings of its 2026 Parking Structure Cost Outlook, providing developers, parking owners, municipalities, airports, universities, healthcare systems, architects, and design professionals the latest benchmarking data and practical guidance for budgeting future parking structures. Attendees can register online for the webinar, which starts at 12:30 pm ET.
Presented by Rob McConnell, PE, SE, LEED GA, and Raymond Smith, PE, members of WGI’s Parking Solutions team, the session will provide attendees both national benchmarks and city-by-city insights to help improve project planning, budgeting, and decision-making.
“Parking structures have become significantly more complex projects than they were just a few years ago,” said McConnell. “Material pricing, code changes, sustainability requirements, and evolving vehicle technology are all influencing project costs. Understanding these trends early allows owners and developers to make better decisions before design begins.”
Based on WGI’s annual analysis of current and historical construction costs for hundreds of parking structure projects throughout the U.S., the webinar will explain the methodology used to develop the national median cost and how to use the information to inform parking structure project budgets. The webinar will review the various hard and soft costs associated with parking structure construction and upward pressures caused by recent changes to national and local codes.
During the webinar, attendees will learn:
- The 2026 national median construction cost per parking space and per square foot, benchmarked across 35 U.S. cities.
- How to determine a comparable median cost for cities in the U.S. and Canada.
- Hard and soft cost components of parking structure construction and various elements that influence increases and decreases in cost.
- Anticipated costs to operate and maintain a parking structure once it is constructed and occupied.
The webinar is designed for developers, parking owners, municipalities, architects, engineers, facility managers, higher education institutions, healthcare organizations, airports, and anyone responsible for planning or budgeting structured parking projects.
